The AR1200 uses the embedded hardware encryption technique and supports the voice Digital Signal Processor (DSP). It supports firewall functions, call processing, voice mail, and various application programs. The AR1200 supports various wired and wireless access modes, such as E1/T1, xDSL, xPON, WiFi, 3G, etc. The AR1220V, AR1220W, AR1220VW provide the PoE function by using fixed 100M Ethernet interfaces.

The AR1200 supports various interface cards, including Ethernet interface cards, E1/T1/PRI/VE1 interface cards, synchronous/asynchronous interface cards, ADSL2+/G.SHDSL interface cards, FXS/FXO voice cards, ISDN interface cards and EPON/GPON interface cards. These cards are classified into SIC (Smart Interface Card) cards and WSIC (Double-Width SIC) cards depending on slot type.

NetEngine 5000E cluster router (NE5000E for short) is a super core router from Huawei to be used in internet backbone, metro core, internet data center and internet bearer. NE5000E adopts self-developed Solar Series chipsets technology, advanced optical backplane connection design, distributed and highly scalable platform with Versatile Routing Platform (VRP) operation system. NE5000E extra-large switching capability and excellent forwarding performance can fully support the requirements of next generation backbone network high performance, quality of service, and operation capability. NE5000E has two parts in hardware: Cluster Central Chassis (CCC) and Cluster Line Chassis (CLC). CLC is used to forward service flow and CCC is used to connect CLC’s control plane and data plane in cluster system.
