The NE40E-X1/X2 Universal Service Router is used to provide Ethernet services access in metro areas. The NE40E-X1/X2 is the smallest member of the NE40E family.

The NE40E-X1/X2 focuses on DSLAM, MSAN, enterprise and BTS aggregation, and is the most cost-effective small UPE in the industry. The NE40E-X1/X2 supports 20/40G capacity, and a rich set of interface types. At only 220mm deep, the NE40E-X1/X2 is extremely compact and can be installed in the same rack with access equipment. Additional features include carrier-class reliability, powerful L3 functions, advanced QoS features, and industry leading 1588v2 clock synchronization features.

Large Capacity & Broad Interface Support in a Compact Design

Adopting a compact design, the NE40E-X1/X2 is 220mm deep and can be installed in the same rack or cabinet with access equipment (DSLAM, MSAN, etc). With 20/40G capacity, the NE40E-X1/X2 supports 2*10G/4*10G and flexible interface types such as GE, FE, E1, etc, for universal scenario access. The NE40E-X1/X2 will support 40/80G forwarding in a future release, which makes it ready for the future network development.

Intelligent &Powerful L3 functions

Based on Huawei's unified, mature, multi-service, Versatile Routing Platform (VRP), the NE40E-X1/X2 offers powerful L3 functions. The NE40E-X1/X2 supports various traffic classification methods and service aware policies for Hierarchical Quality of Service (HQoS). It can classify services at a fine granularity and with great flexibility. The NE40E-X1/X2 supports 5 hierarchical QoS levels. For mobile backhaul, The NE40E-X1/X2 supplies mature clock synchronization, such as ACR, Sync. Ethernet, and 1588v2, and achieves GPS-grade Clock for any mobile network. The NE40E-X1/X2 also integrates intelligent functions for Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) applications.

Uniform Platform & Management

The NE40E-X1/X2 is part of Huawei's NE40E series which features a unified platform and unified management. It supports end equipment plug &play, and end-to-end service configuration. Combined with backbone and edge equipment such as the NE40E and the ME60, the NE40E-X1/X2 helps operators build a MAN that is multi-service bearing, network hierarchy clear and easy to operation and maintain. The NE40E-X1/X2 can also interoperate with the equipments from other suppliers, for seamless access at the network edge and all the L3 layers of the MAN, effectively protecting the operator’s current investment.
